On Saturday, June 12, Virginia Homes hosted an amazing event for the modern woman. The event took place in one of their many beautiful model homes and event attendees enjoyed presentations and demonstrations on interior design, floral, children’s ideals and even culinary concepts to reflect the modern woman's home, family and entertaining style.
Taking into consideration how instrumental women are in the house-buying process, Virginia Homes developed the “Women Centric” concept. This concept defines how truly unique every woman is, the event highlighted these differences by developing personality profiles. Each woman in attendance was offered an on-line quiz which placed them in one of four profiles to help represent each person’s personal style, buying behaviors and overall direction in life.
This is where
MAX The Salon (Gary Motto, Jade Piatt & Benjamin Young), Elizabeth Bean Smith of
Wardrobe Therapy and
SAKS came into play! Collaborating with one another, we created a visual path for every guest to be stimulated by their very own personality profile:
1.
Margo: her favorite color is purple. She's contemporary, cutting edge, modern, likes clean lines, not a bargain hunter, avid learner, edgy, balanced, workaholic/leadership, loves change/wow factor, bores easily, form over function.
2.
Claire: her color is pink/taupe. She's detailed, likes defined space, lighting important, loves entertaining, elegant, formal- traditional, in control, adapts to change, gives 100% to home, loves good fabric, detailed oriented, informed buyer, avoids later, home makes statement.
3.
Elise: her favorite color is blue. She's traditional, low maintenance, family first, loves pets, care giver, conservative, works for family, loves structure, her home and name brands, function over form.
4.
Maggie: her color is green. She's spur of the moment, likes animals, has a hobby room, environmentally concerned (green), spontaneous, entertains with games & fun, always in a project, house is not priority, likes fun, friends, trips & travel, avoids change.

Margo is very fashion forward. Today’s modern image has come back to body, wave, curl and fullness. Margo was enhanced with multicolor and
Hairdreams hair extensions. I then finished the image with FHI flatiron curls. Products are a must to
Margo, so a combination of
Morrocanoil and
Alterna products were utilized to achieve her finished result.
Claire is classic with an edge of chic, so I enhanced
Claire’s beautiful brunette locks with a
Schwarzkopf high shine gloss.
Claire likes timeless yet modern results. I used Morrocanoil on her damp hair, after a soft blow dry and
FHI flatironing; I used
Alterna Caviar finishing products to create a sleek sophisticated, yet modern, variation to long shiny hair.
Elise is classic in her image, so I chose a clean a-line bob. Bobs are timeless and consistent.
Elise was heavily foiled to create a beautiful pastel blonde.
Morrocanoil and
Alterna's Volume System were used for fullness and bounce.
Maggie is more boho chic. She's very active and needs her hair to make a statement, but stay out of her way.
Maggie came to me with beautiful locks. Locks are a softer more contemporary version of dread locks. I chose the trend of braiding for her finished style, and separated her locks into five sections. I individually braided each section and wrapped them into a family of design. I used a slight amount of
Alterna Caviar Working Hairspray for control. The end result;
Maggie's look works from the hobby room to an evening on the town!

I envisioned
Margo to be the fashion-forward woman. She is the woman who isn’t afraid to make a statement when she enters the room. She likes the attention to be focused on her. For this outfit, I chose an asymmetrical print knit dress that came above the knee. We accessorized the outfit with gold bangles and a long gold link necklace. For her shoes, we paired a Grecian sandal for an easy, chic “day look.” Everyone commented on
Margo. (Isn’t that what Margo wanted?)
I saw
Claire to be the woman who loves fashion, but doesn’t need to go over-the-top. She loves mixing her classic pieces with her more trendy, casual pieces. For this woman, I thought that the best way to define her in terms of fashion is: Classic Chic. Think of Jennifer Aniston. I chose a LBD, with a twist. The designer was Sinclaire 10 from Saks. This is a contemporary designer that has a moderate price point.
Claire also wore a chunky statement necklace and a little peep-toe classic pump. She was extremely sassy, and many women related to her look.
Elise is a traditional, do it all woman. She keeps the home perfect, is the leader of the kids’ PTA, very low maintenance that loves her family and puts them first, always.
Elise can relate to so many women. She is a classic dresser. She likes to purchase items that she knows will live for quite some time in her wardrobe. I chose a more conservative outfit for
Elise. She had a great Khaki jacket, layered over a lt. blue tank, and paired back to a Bermuda short. She had a simple stretch bracelet and carried a classic Jimmy Choo handbag. She resembled the woman who is modest and practical.
Maggie is all about the environment. She loves animals, loves to travel and her home is not a priority. Maggie fit the description of a woman who is bohemian in her dress. In fact, she fit the classic description of Bohemian Chic. For
Maggie, I paired a sleeveless cotton print tunic back to a brown cargo capri pant. The tunic had wood beads sewn into the neckline. She carried a cross-over shoulder bag by Tory Burch. The bag had fringe (so boho!) She wore a large hoop earring and wood bangles. Her look was so perfect for Maggie!!
Our mission, every day, is to help each person feel as good as they look. We were proud to contribute to this fabulous afternoon and to team up with Virginia Homes, Saks and Wardrobe Therapy to help empower women!
