Hitting the Books with a Brand New Look: Back-to-School Hair Makeovers!

With the first day of school right around the corner, we knew that it was time for our 2nd Annual Back-to-School “Hair Makeover!” This year we invited the CW Star, Annie, to The Charles Penzone Grand Salon in Dublin to watch as our four lucky winners received a brand new hairstyle for a brand new year at school.

Sixteen year old Kiersha knew exactly what she wanted when walking into The Charles Penzone Salons. Vivica, Director, worked her magic and gave Kiersha a cute new bob and bangs, complete with red highlights!
                           




Kelly, 12, is an avid swimmer found herself battling chlorine damage after being in the pool this summer.  Parker, stylist, framed Kelly’s face with subtle highlights and  gave her a brand new cut to start off the year – only after providing her with a deep-conditioning treatment to make sure her hair was in tip-top shape!  





Eleven year old Emma wanted to look just like her hair professional Danica, Designer, when she started school this year. With new highlights to brighten up her face and a full fringe, Emma and Danica looked like sisters!






Being a junior in high school, Kaycee knew that she wanted to keep her hair curly so she could wake up in the morning and go! Giselle, Designer, used the DevaCurl products to amp up Kaycee’s curls and gave her a bang to finish off her look.




All four girls left the salon ready to hit the books and show off their new looks on the first day of school!

Hair Remedy 911

Summer is notorious for giving your hair a beating. And although August is already upon us, here are some ideas to help keep your hair safe from common summer maladies for the next couple months:  

Swim- The best solution for over chlorinated hair is prevention. I commonly suggest for my guests to wet their hair with a spray leave-in conditioner such as Bonacure Moisture Kick Spray. Hair is absorbent like a sponge and if it is treated and wet before getting into the pool it is less likely to soak up the chlorine. If you have already experienced chlorine damage and/or want to prevent it, you can use Philip Pelusi Clarifying Shampoo Treatment or Alterna Life Solutions Clarifying Shampoo. Both cleansers are color safe, have sunscreen, and will remove chlorine and pH balance the hair without affecting your color.


Sun- Color usually suffers the most from the sun. It is important to protect hair from the sun’s damaging rays by using a product with sun screen. Brilliant Hair from Phillip Pelusi is a “must have” to keep the sun at bay. It’s your hair care vitamin, sun and heat protection all in one. This product is fragrance-free and can be used on wet or dry hair. By keeping your hair moisturized and filled with the nutrients it needs, it will be less likely to absorb unwanted damaging environmental elements.

Spots, Dots, and Fine Lines, OH MY!

No matter what age, nearly every one of my guest’s most pressing concerns is the best way to protect themselves from premature aging.  

Believe it or not – the answer is easy.  The best way to avoid premature aging is to avoid over exposure of your skin to the sun.  The winter months expose damage from previous summers, what shows up are spots, dots and fine lines.  Add a little dehydration, and a some cold wind; well you have yourself a mess!
